Most frequent questions and answers

Are you insured?

Yes! DP Decks is fully licensed and insured. We are also up to date and in good standing with WorkSafeBC with zero claims to date!

Can you start my project next month?

While we wish we could multiply ourselves and finish projects in record time to take on every new projects, we are a smaller company that tends to book out very quickly. As of January 5th 2024, we are already booking into August 2024. We are usually booking six to eight months in advance most years.

Can you give me a ballpark figure on project price? What do you charge per square foot?

We do not give verbal “ballpark” estimates or quote projects based on square footage or linear feet. Every project is different, estimating per job keeps things fair for both DP Decks and the clients. We calculate materials down to even the exact number of screws, and estimate labour based on previous projects, which we always keep track of.

Why do you call them estimates and not quotes?

Every project we will send an estimate to the client that gets signed off when accepted, and every project gets a contract made for both parties to sign as well. We break down and detail our estimates as much as possible, but prices are all based off what we can see during initial inspection. Surprises or project add-ons not outlined in the estimate and contract are not included. Of course if there are no surprises or extra work added onto the project DP Decks always honors the original contract price!

How much do you charge per hour?

For projects including labour for only the owner/operator, the price is $100/hour. Jobs being completed by a full time regular technician cost $85/hour. For owner/operator plus full time technician the cost is $135/hour. All hourly prices are not including materials or GST. These hourly costs factor in wages as well as overhead and operating costs to run a legal and long term business, with the right tools and supplies to professionally complete your project.

How long will my project take to complete?

We only work one project at a time, from start to finish. We outline the expected project duration on each contract.

What kind of payment do you accept?

We accept cheque, e-transfer, cash, all the major credit cards, and direct bank payments. Invoices are also payable online.

Do you warranty your work?

We stand behind our work and give you peace of mind that your project was done correctly and will be safe and beautiful for many years to come. We offer longer than industry standard workmanship and structural warranties for up to five years on most of our services, and guarantee a hassle-free claim process.
