My name is Dave Parkinson, and I’m the owner operator of DP Decks. Based in the quiet community of Summerland, BC. I’ve been designing and building outdoor living spaces throughout the South Okanagan for nearly a decade. When you contact DP Decks, you’ll be dealing directly with me, from the first conversation and estimate all the way to the final walkthrough.

Experience
My career in construction began over twenty years ago at a local golf course, where I operated heavy equipment, maintained the grounds, and installed various landscape elements. That hands‑on experience led me into landscape construction, and I’ve been working in the construction industry ever since. Over the years, I’ve worked throughout the Okanagan Valley and out in Alberta building decks, fences, outdoor structures, patios, retaining walls, irrigation systems, and complete outdoor living spaces. While living in Calgary, I attended the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology for Carpentry and earned certification in Landscape Horticulture along the way.

Deck building has become my primary focus, but my background in landscaping and carpentry allows me to approach projects with a broader understanding of how outdoor spaces function as a whole, structurally, visually, and practically. Because outdoor construction can be seasonal, I spend my winter months working indoors on renovation projects. Over the past twelve winters, I’ve completed everything from small bathroom renovations to full home remodels. I genuinely enjoy problem‑solving, working with my hands, and transforming worn or outdated spaces into bright, functional areas that homeowners can enjoy again.
